John Walton was a silversmith in Newcastle who went on to become one of the largest silver plate and jewellery manufacturers in the city.
He started out with registering his mark in 1811 and went into partnership with John Robertson Jnr. They dissolved the partnership in 1820 and John Walton went on to trade independently until he retired in 1866.
He produced a wide range of small pieces such as cutlery, tea services, cake baskets, goblets and flatware.
