John Edwards III
John Edwards III – was a silversmith working in London from 1788 when he entered his first mark as a plateworker.
He was in a short partnership with William Frisbee and they entered a joint mark together in 1791, but by 1792 he’d entered another mark in his own name alone. As a partner of Frisbee he would have been in the circle that included the young Paul Storr.
He then went into partnership with his son Edward Edwards in 1811.
His work includes a number of fine silver gilt tea services and other domestic silver plate, and his pieces are considered to be of a high standard of design and execution.
