We are very proud to be able to offer for sale this gorgeous pair of antique Adam Revival satinwood concave side cabinets with beautiful hand-painted floral decoration, dating from the late 19th century.
Each cabinet has a useful frieze drawer above a pair of cupboard doors, with oval panels that have striking hand-painted decoration of urns of flowers, in the manner of Angelica Kauffman.
Angelica Kauffman (1741 – 1807) was a Swiss-born Austrian Neoclassical painter who had a successful career in London and Rome. While Kauffman produced many types of art, she identified herself primarily as a history painter, an unusual designation for a female artist in the 18th century. The works of Angelica Kauffman have retained their reputation. By 1911, rooms decorated with her work were still to be seen in various quarters.
These lovely cabinets are each fitted with a central shelf and are raised on decorative swept bracket feet.
