We are pleased to present to you this astounding antique Victorian mahogany and gilded twin pedestal dining table bearing the impressed mark of the renowned cabinet makers and retailers Wylie & Lochhead, and circa 1850 in date.
The oval shaped table is made from solid mahogany and has four leaves which can be added or removed as required to suit the occasion by a special winding mechanism.
It is raised on a pair of beautifully carved and gilded pedestal bases with down swept legs terminating in scroll feet and the original brass and porcelain recessed castors.
This table bears the inventory number 22308 and stamp of the maker: Wylie & Lochead, 45 Buchanan Street, Glasgow. Antique Furniture by the Scottish cabinet makers Wylie & Lochhead means the piece is going to be of superb quality and a very high level of craftsmanship. They were famous for their stunning selection of wardrobes, dining chairs and dining tables.

Antique Regency dining tables were first produced during the reign of George IV although the style has continued to be reproduced, and to influence designs, right up until the present day. These tables were often made of mahogany or burr walnut and featured rosewood and zebra-wood veneers, brass decorations, metal paws and lion masks and they were considerably more elaborate than the previous generation of furniture.
Characterized by clean lines, graceful proportions, and classical motifs, Regency dining tables embody the elegance and refinement of the early 19th century.
A perfect example is this remarkable antique Regency flame mahogany and Satinwood banded tilt top oval dining table dating from circa 1820.
The fabulous 5ft flame mahogany tilt top table can seat six people in comfort. The top is decoratively cross banded in satinwood with ebony and boxwood stringing. It sits on a mahogany hand turned column with quadruple swept fluted sabre legs that terminate in brass toes and castors.

This beautiful table is in stunning solid flame mahogany and has eight leaves of approximately 50 cm each, which can be added or removed as required to suit the occasion.

It is rectangular with D shaped ends and stands on six elegantly carved turned reeded and tapered legs that terminate in their original brass and brown porcelain castors.
