To start off, we are pleased to present to you this exquisite antique bronze and marble sculpture group titled “The Betrothal” by Carl Kauba (1865-1922), circa 1890 in date.
Carl Kauba was an Austrian sculptor who was born in 1865. Great Plains Art Museum featured Carl Kauba’s work in the past.
The bronze features a classical youth placing a ring on the hand of a girl sitting on a stepped marble base, signed C KAUBA FECIT.
This high quality hot cast solid bronze was produced using the traditional “lost wax” process, otherwise known as the “cire perdue” method.
The craftsmanship and attention to detail are absolutely fantastic. This is a truly special piece that will be the centre of attention wherever it is placed.
Our second featured item is a gorgeous antique pair of French Grand Tour patinated-bronze sculptures of the Marly Horses, circa 1850 in date and signed to one base.
The original Marly Horses were commissioned by Louis XV of France, sculpted in Carrara marble, showing two rearing horses with their grooms, by Guillaume Coustou, and made in 1743 and completed in 1745. They now sit in the courtyard of the Richelieu wing of the Louvre Museum.
Both statues have a lovely dark brown patination which is shown in all its glory, and these high-quality hot cast solid bronze statues were produced using the traditional “lost wax” process, otherwise known as the “cire perdue” method. It is in excellent condition with no dings, dents or signs of repair.
The attention to detail here is remarkable and this beautiful pair of bronze statues is sure to receive the maximum amount of attention wherever placed.
Another extraordinary item is this elegant French Grand Tour bronze figure of the Greek Goddess Diana by Marius-Jean-Antonin Mercié, French 1845 – 1916, dating from circa 1880.
The seated and robed Goddess Diana is holding a bow and arrows with her head downcast and raised on a circular plinth. Diana was originally considered to be a goddess of the wilderness and of the hunt, a central sport in both Roman and Greek culture. Early Roman inscriptions to Diana celebrated her primarily as a huntress and patron of hunters.
The craftsmanship is second to none throughout all aspects of this piece and it is sure to add an unparalleled touch of elegance to your home.

The fountain features a large urn with exquisite decoration on a cylindrical plinth decorated with laurels of roses. It is topped with five doves taking turns drinking water.

The fountain is plumbed and ready to be fitted with a pump, the pump is not included.
