Epergne

Is a type of decorative table centerpiece, used to hold food as a fancy way to display side dishes or fruit. They can also be used as purely decorative objects holding candles or flowers.

They are usually made of silver, but examples can be found in other other metals, porcelain or glass. The design generally features a large central basket or bowl with branches radiating out holding smaller dishes, baskets or candleholders.

Older versions are generally made from silver, but from the 20th century onwards other materials such as glass were used.
