Sevres Porcelain
Sevres Porcelain traces its roots in France to early craftsmen who had small manufacturing operations in such places as Lille, Rouen. St. Cloud, and most notably Chantilly. It is from Chantilly that a cadre of workers migrated to the Chateau de Vincennes near Paris to form a larger porcelain manufactory in 1738.
Remarkable Examples of Antique Porcelain
We would like to present to you this gorgeous antique French Sevres oval porcelain dish from the late 18th century. This is an important decorative antique French Sevres oval porcelain dish, the rear with underglaze blue interlaced LL factory Sevres mark.
The oval border is a striking bleu royal colour and the centre is masterfully hand painted with a scene depicting the Battle of Ravenna.
Next, we would like to present to you a pair of antique Sevres bleu celeste porcelain & ormolu candelabra. Each candelabra features floral and leaf branches with detachable sconces above beautifully sculpted cherubic central columns with inverted baluster bleu céleste columns below.
The bleu celeste bases have panels of hand painted country flowers with gilt highlights raised on stepped circular bases on tripartite feet.
Another outstanding item is antique bleu celeste Sevres porcelain ormolu table lamp. This is a stunning large antique French Sevres hand-painted porcelain and ormolu mounted vase dating from circa 1870, later converted into a lamp.
