Fauteuil

Fauteuil is a style of chair with open arms and an exposed wooden frame. It originated in France during the early 1600s.

It is made of wood, frequently with carved relief ornamentation and the wood is often gilded or painted. The seat, seat back and arms are upholstered. Some fauteuils have padding at the front of the seat rail which extends slightly over the apron.
