Just Arrived – Paul Storr Silverware
Paul Storr Silverware, the work of a London-based silversmith who was active from around 1792 when he completed his apprenticeship, who has become one of the most loved and appreciated English Silversmiths and his work is very much in demand today due to its sheer quality and attention to detail.
Here at Regent Antiques we always try to keep a good stock of fine English Silverware by makers like Paul Storr and Hester Bateman and this week we have sourced three items of Paul Storr silverware to show to you. First of all we have this lovely English antique silver cream jug
This beautifully crafted jug measures 12cm in height x 8cm x 13.5cm deep and weighs 6 troy oz. It is very petite and delicately decorated making it perfect as a display piece. The jug has the hallmarks for London in 1801 and bears the makers mark of Paul Storr.
To complement the simple yet elegant embossed decorations there is a gilded lining inside the jug. This is a very collectable item and we urge all Paul Storr silverware collectors to view it at their earliest opportunity. It is offered at just £1250 and is in superb condition with no damage. Our next item of Paul Storr Silverware is this Antique English Silver Six-Bottle Cruet which dates from 1805:
This very fine English George III sterling silver six bottle condiment cruet set has hallmarks for London 1805 and also carries the makers mark for the celebrated silversmith Paul Storr.
It is a rare, complete, set and is in superb condition featuring six cut glass bottles which would traditionally have been used for: chilli, soy, cayenne, anchovy, lemon and ketchup. All of the bottles have sterling silver mounts and all of the silver parts are from the same date and maker.
Our final piece of Paul Store silverware for this review is this large and wonderful antique English sterling silver fruit basket:
The piece carries hallmarks for London 1825, plus the makers mark of Paul Storr. It has decorations comprising of flowers and shells to the border and a there is a handle bearing a coat of arms which we have not yet researched.
This piece has all the characteristic quality and design which we expect from its celebrated maker – it is sure to make it a treasured piece for any collector.
