Karelian Birch is a type of burr wood from a species of birch tree found in the Karelian region between Finland and Russia.
It was highly prized as it enabled highly original furniture and is similar to Birdseye Maple. Used by the Tsars for ‘The Imperial Furniture’, it was mostly used for highly decorative pieces.
