This is a superb decorative glass cased bronze model of the Colubrina da Fortezza cannon, late 19th century in date.
It features a 25 cm long brass barrel mounted on a two-wheel carriage on an oak base with a bronze Colubrina da Fortezza plaque.
The introduction of the muzzle-loading cannon meant the end of traditional methods of warfare and ancient fortifications. In the Battle of Castillon, in 1453, the last clash of the Hundred Years' War, the French defeated the English, thanks to cannons and bombards that managed to hit the archers long before they could get within a useful distance to use their bows.
Add a little bit of character to your surroundings.
